PRESS RELEASE

SoZo Teen Center is a non-profit organization serving at-risk teens in the Watertown community. SoZo is currently in the midst of receiving training in the area of Board Development and long term financial planning through a grant provided by the Northern New York Community Foundation. Summer programming at SoZo have been fruitful for the students that attend the center. We are currently involved in a partnership with the Alcohol and Substance Abuse Council of Jefferson County by participating in a Community Risk Assessment in relation to collecting alcohol advertising data that is geared to underage drinking. SoZo is currently awaiting word from the Youth Bureau on a joint grant that we have submitted with Transitional Living Services of Northern New York. This program will serve the students of our community at the center along with staff from both organizations. On a lighter note, the SoZo softball team recently visited the Children’s Home of Jefferson County to play them in softball. The Children’s Home used the SoZo Teen Center this past spring for educational classes. The softball game created an enjoyable afternoon for all as teens from both the center and the home had a ton of fun in the sun.
