The S o Z o Mission is:
"To equip students to become productive young adults in our community."
SoZo Teen Center, formally the Watertown Teen Center, is a non-profit 501 c 3 organization that serves teenagers in the Watertown NY community . We provide an environment for students that challenges teenagers to be stretched and to grow as young people. We do this through relevant programming and creating activities that takes them out of their comfort zones.
S o Z o began nearly a decade ago as a safe place for Watertown Teens to come and hang out after school. Throughout the years, we have had some bumps and brusies to deal with, but through the tax-deductable contributions of those who believe in us, as well as a dedicated and faithful Board of Directors - we stand today to extend hope to young people.
Today S o Z o focuses on serving the needs of the teens through relevant programming and challenging activities all the while providing them with a safe environment.
During our summer season, we averaged 70 meals a day for our kids. Lunches and dinners ranged from spaghetti and meatballs, chicken wings, Sloppy Joe's with fries to Jamacain dishes taught to us by Michael Kpademba of JaJa's Caribbean Cooking. We also served hundreds of sundaes and made buckets and buckets of chocalate chip cookies.
Our facility features a pool table, ping pong table, a foosball table and an assortment of games and crafts! We have ten computers, all online, for the students to use for research, homework and entertainment. One of our most popular resources is the X-box console that always seems to be in use!
Our DJ Booth was donated by the gentleman who first started the center and is now on our Board of Directors - James Warner.

S o Z o Teen Center is a safe place for area teens from all backgrounds to come together and grow.
Our target group are teens between the ages of 13 - 19 years old.
We have a facility that is centrally located in the heart of downtown Watertown. There is a fully equipped kitchen that allows us to prepare home made meals for the students as well as teaching the students basic cooking skills through our Culinary Arts Program.
Open six days a week, we provide teens with an opportunity to use their time wisely, receive tutoring opportunities in their academics as well as simply staying off of the streets.
Here at our Center teens are encouraged to participate in our programs and activities which are all created to help them grow into responsible young adults that will contrbute to our community.
The Staff is blessed to be serving the most amazing group of teenagers in the north country! Whether we are involved in community activities or delivering home made cookies to our neighbors - S o Z o Teens are on the job!!
